Live in awe

On film, on digital and in the written word

Awe

NOUN

a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder.

VERB

inspire with awe.

I don’t need to tell you that life in the 21st century is fast paced and full of distractions. That’s not always a bad thing so long as you remain in control.

I have found that shooting film on a manual camera allows me to slow life down a little and eliminate some of the less welcome distractions. I control each part of the exposure of the negative.

Perhaps film is my distraction, if so it’s a welcome one.

Almost everyone has a digital camera in their pocket or bag thanks to the technology that is the smartphone. A smaller number of us still use a digital camera too.

Whatever device you use to take your pictures, I encourage you to engage your imagination at every step. Play, have fun, be childlike in your wonder, it’s where art resides.

Art for art’s sake
